Supported Functionality

Onsite Checkout is designed as a lightweight, streamlined purchase experience focused on rapid conversion journeys.

As a result, certain checkout functionality is not currently supported within Onsite Checkout, including:

Gifted Orders

Predefined gifting flows such as:

  • I’m buying for myself
  • I’m buying a gift

are not currently supported.

Apple Pay Exception

However, because Apple Pay supports separate billing and delivery information:

  • Gifted orders are possible when using Apple Pay

Standard card purchases remain personal by default.

Payment Methods

Direct Debit is not currently supported, as it is not considered a common payment method for impulse purchases.

Additional functionality

The following functionality is not currently supported:

  • Start Issue Selection
  • Voucher Codes
  • Tesco Clubcard

Data Protection Behaviour

When customers pay using Express payment methods:

  • Data protection responses are automatically set to:
    • U – unasked

This aligns with existing Checkout behaviour.

Reporting and Insights

Order-related reporting is derived from:

  • The Transaction Store database

The reporting model matches Checkout reporting, using separate transaction types.

Captured Data Points

The following metrics are captured:

  • Publisher Code
  • Render Date and Time
  • Checkout Mode
  • Item
  • Promotion Code
  • Country
  • Currency
  • Payment Method
  • Order Submission Date and Time

This provides visibility into the full customer journey:

  • From checkout render through to order submission.
