Supported Functionality
Onsite Checkout is designed as a lightweight, streamlined purchase experience focused on rapid conversion journeys.
As a result, certain checkout functionality is not currently supported within Onsite Checkout, including:
Gifted Orders
Predefined gifting flows such as:
- I’m buying for myself
- I’m buying a gift
are not currently supported.
Apple Pay Exception
However, because Apple Pay supports separate billing and delivery information:
- Gifted orders are possible when using Apple Pay
Standard card purchases remain personal by default.
Payment Methods
Direct Debit is not currently supported, as it is not considered a common payment method for impulse purchases.
Additional functionality
The following functionality is not currently supported:
- Start Issue Selection
- Voucher Codes
- Tesco Clubcard
Data Protection Behaviour
When customers pay using Express payment methods:
- Data protection responses are automatically set to:
- U – unasked
This aligns with existing Checkout behaviour.
Reporting and Insights
Order-related reporting is derived from:
- The Transaction Store database
The reporting model matches Checkout reporting, using separate transaction types.
Captured Data Points
The following metrics are captured:
- Publisher Code
- Render Date and Time
- Checkout Mode
- Item
- Promotion Code
- Country
- Currency
- Payment Method
- Order Submission Date and Time
This provides visibility into the full customer journey:
- From checkout render through to order submission.
